Kinemobil

product design, education

The concept of transforming tension energy to kinetic energy in school books can be dull, but the Kinemobil offers a fun and engaging approach. Its design is archetypal and encourages creativity and experimentation. By using a balloon and rubber, the car can travel farther than expected, and the position of the weight (e.g. a toothpaste tube) can significantly impact its efficiency. The Kinemobil runs on a wind rubber band, and it's made entirely of laser-cut cardboard. The illustrated instructions make it easy to assemble, and everything you need (wooden axes, rubber, balloon, and inflation helper) comes in the box.

Encouraging creativity and experimentation with its archetypal design.
